I know we have not posted anything in a while and The Minireads has remained a rather empty place for months. Things had been quite busy off-late owing to my work and other commitments. I also joined a yoga class and learned an ocean of wisdom related to health and well-being. I will be sharing more insights from the Yoga class soon as I get back into my writing mode. I have not been actively reading too. But I am here with the review of the movie: Malgudi Days 2020
What about you? How have your last two months been? How is your quarantine going?

Kannada adaptation of R K Narayan’s classic: Malgudi Days
In the past few days, I have tried exploring movies across the country. I have made a promise to watch a movie from every state in the coming days and the first movie I watched was recently released Malgudi days. I felt like this could be a good starting point since this book is about writing and books. I was so right! The leading characters are Laxminarayan Malgudi, the screen adaption of R K Narayan, and Prakruthi, a young and carefree woman. Both of them meet by accident on the road.
The story is sweet and nostalgic giving you beautiful moments to cherish and savour for a while. It has been shot in the Malnad region of Karnataka and Kerala which are full of lush green forests. This is partially a road trip story involving two individuals who are two generations apart. Even though the age gap, they bond over their stories of love and friendship. It has tried to blend stories from different eras, almost 50 years apart in such a surreal way that I was amazed.

Malgudi Days Review by Minireads
The storyline was so natural and so were the actors who made this plot even more convincing. This movie is about cherishing little joys of life like your childhood friends, your first crush, your mischiefs in college, and being close to nature. It helps you to think of your roots and gives you an urge to relive your childhood and youth and those beautiful days.
There are some particular scenes in the movie which are deeply moving and will make you smile ear to ear. One such incident is when LaxmiNarayan Malgudi goes back to his school and is felicitated by his teacher, his inspiration for writing, Saraswati Mam. It will make you think of teachers who had a large contribution to making you what you are today. I am having an urge to read more works of R K Narayan as I have only read his Malgudi days.
I will not write further and spoil the movie for you. If you have seen Malgudi Days (2020), I am excited to know your review
The next movie is Agent Sai Athreya from Telugu cinema

Any suggestion?
The city that never sleeps is mainly hibernating right now and although there are some places open, most of the NYC is shut down. It feels so strange to see the subways and streets of Manhattan nearly completely vacant. As a New Yorker, I’ve never seen anything like it. To fend off boredom I’ve been reading, working remotely and jogging at the park to stay fit. Netflix, YouTube and social media have been pivotal in passing time and also keeping up on rapidly changing events. I hope you, your family and those around you remain safe and sound until this passes.
Yes, we are doing fine. I am also learning new things, reading books, watching some movies. The world has come to a halt, I won’t complain because there is so much peace and clean air after years.
Thanks for sharing about malgudi days.
