The third season of Little Things was released on 9th November on Netflix and I could not stop myself from binge-watching the episodes. You can watch the series for free with the free trial offered by Netflix. The first season of the series was released on YouTube by Dice media and it was later bought by Netflix India and the last two seasons have been released by them. The show features Dhruv (Dhruv Sehgal) and Kavya Kulkarni (Mithilia Palkar) who are live-in couple based in Mumbai. The show’s title standalone explains everything that this show is about; the joys of little things in life.
Little things season explores layers of life
The last two seasons focused more on the lives and romance between Dhruv and Kavya while the third season has layers to it and explores other parts of their lives. The show hits off with a Dhruv leaving for Bangalore as an assistant to Dr Geeta and he is finally at peace with his choice, for choosing mathematics as a discipline after leaving his PhD midway.
He gradually finds his happy place in Bangalore where he is more productive and confident of his abilities. He is in a new world with new people but Kavya is living in the same old world with memories of Dhruv floating around the home and her life. She is vulnerable and in a particular scene, she breaks down and cries while talking to Dhruv. Dhruv tries to distract her by asking her to spot the Orion in the sky but she is not able to, another indication that they are not on the same page.
Eventually, Kavya starts finding her happiness in new people and in doing things without Dhruv and it gradually starts piling up in the head of Dhruv. Kavya feels that Dhruv loves her a little less, Dhruv also feels the same way after seeing that Kavya has started doing things without him. In the midst of this, they realize that time is ticking away and their parents are ageing. I remember a line from last season where Kavya’s friend says that at best we will get to live less than three months close to our parents as we are busy here selling bulbs (her job as a salesperson).
Dhruv and Kavya grow closer to their parents
Dhruv’s home is being sold and he doesn’t feel even an iota of emotion as he has grown distant after being away from home for so many years. We all have been through the same, of moving to new places and not really knowing where our home is. He lashes out at his mother for things of the past and for them being so bossy and imposing.

Kavya is sad to see that Kaju, her first crush, a neighbourhood dog is nearing death and she finds it difficult to come to terms with that. She is also worried about her parents after his dad retires and is troubled by the fact they both are slowly ageing. An episode explores the dynamics of Dhruv and Kavya’s past which explains where they have come from and the relationship they have had before. Their past has helped them to shape a relationship that gives a chance for both individuals to grow and I think that is a very important thing that two individuals retain their personalities and do not morph into each other after being together for a long period of time.
Little Things Season 3 Review by Minireads
This season is the most mature of all three and shows characters in a new light. In the last two seasons, it was either Dhruv or Kavya who was the guiding light to the other but in this one, both are trying to find their way out, either alone or together and this makes the characters even more real with no sense of black and white and honouring the grey. The writing done by Dhruv Sehgal is top-notch and he covers little aspects really well. The background score is amazing and for every sequence in the series, the songs just fit the tune and the lyrics correctly match up. I was glad to find Ditty’s song “Death cab” in the series.
After the series ends, you will feel warm in your heart. You will miss someones, from the past or perhaps notice similar sequences or feelings as shown in the series. The episodes are not about how events happen, rather it’s about feeling and living those moments.
