I started this book last weekend after I got it at a discounted price at the Letters bookstore. I had seen the book doing rounds on Goodreads and news outlets so I grabbed it on the first go. The book starts with the premise of a man dying inside Vera Wong’s World Famous teashop, which is not even famous in San Francisco. Vera takes matters into her own hands to find the dead man’s killer. The dramedy starts when her suspects become close to her and to each other, turning the investigation into a relationship-building exercise.
I loved the melange of mystery, thrill, humor, and warmth in the book. You feel like you are reading a thriller and then comes a moment where you burst into laughter and the next thing makes you teary-eyed as the characters have big hearts. All the characters are so well thought out, with idiosyncracies that make you connect with them while the element of crime makes you question them.
I highly recommend this book if you want a fun book that lights up your heart while keeping you on the edge!
